Frequently Asked Questions

Florida has “Direct Access”, which means patients are allowed to go directly to a physical therapist without a referral or prescription for 30 days. If you have already seen a provider for the condition you’re wanting PT for, then you can continue to be seen after the 30 days. If you have not seen a provider for the condition, we will help to coordinate your care.

Pelvic Patients: The initial evaluation is 55 min and includes a detailed discussion about your medical history, symptoms, and goals for physical therapy. We often complete an orthopedic assessment to look at your range of motion, strength, posture, etc. If a pelvic exam is indicated, we will first educate and discuss with you the exam process (this can help us learn about your pelvic floor muscle strength, tone, scar tissue, coordination, prolapse or laxity assessment, and more). If time allows and patient agrees, we can do a pelvic exam on the first visit, future visit, or defer if patient prefers to wait.
Breast Patients: The initial evaluation is 55 min and includes a detailed discussion about your medical history, cancer treatment timeline, and goals for physical therapy. If you are being seen pre-op for lymphedema prevention, we will educate you on what lymphedema is, what your risks are, and take baseline measurements. We will also review what to expect throughout your treatment timeline considering surgery, radiation, chemo, and other treatments, and how PT can play a role.

You do not need to cancel or reschedule due to being on your period, in fact we WANT to see you while you’re on your period as symptoms and pelvic floor presentation will often be different at various times in your cycle and it can give us information helpful to your plan of care!
We will always modify to your comfort level, but know that in general it is helpful and encouraged to still come during all phases of your cycle.

Of course! We dont want childcare to be a barrier to your rehab journey. Infants and babies are always welcome as they are so easy to manage, you can bring a stroller/car seat or just let them come lay/play on the mat. Toddlers and older kids can attend as well and we will adapt to the patient’s needs and the situation.
If childcare is an issue and you dont want to bring in your kiddos, we can always switch to a virtual appointment to continue your plan of care. Please talk to your therapist about options that work best for you!

Whatever you’re comfortable in! There is no special dress requirement, however athleisure and loose fitting clothes are easiest to move around it as we complete our evaluation.

This varies based on the person and their symptoms, but in general, you should see an improvement in your symptoms within 6-8 visits (this does not mean resolution of symptoms, but rather a change moving in the right direction).

Of course! We have options for patients who don’t live in the north central Florida area, live out of state, or who have trouble making it into the clinic.
I live in Florida but can’t make it into the clinic: We can provide virtual physical therapy through our secure platform. Call us to learn more about virtual options for you!
I live outside of Florida: We can provide virtual services to include a medical history review and discuss your best options for learning about and managing your symptoms. We offer wellness services (exercise, education, birth prep and post partum care, return to exercise) and help guide you to the best providers in your area to address your problems.
